Dr. Kenneth S. Kurtz Installed as President of the American College of Prosthodontists
New York-based dental specialist leads premier prosthodontic organization
 

CHICAGO – The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) welcomes Kenneth S. Kurtz, DDS, FACP, as the organization’s new president. Dr. Kurtz was sworn in at the 55th Annual Session of the ACP, held in New Orleans, Oct. 22-25, 2025.

"I am honored to lead the college at this timepoint, as there are a number of important issues at present to address,” said Dr. Kurtz. “I am always open to member feedback, and am already encouraged by a number of new faces volunteering to assist on committees. I am always available to address member concerns, and count on the able assistance of ACP office staff in this regard."

Within the ACP, Dr. Kurtz has held several leadership positions including serving in various positions on the Board of Directors, serving on many key committees, and on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Prosthodontics. He is a Fellow of the ACP, a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of both Scotland and Ireland.

Dr. Kurtz received his BA, Cum Laude, from the University at Albany, State University of New York and his DDS from New York University College of Dentistry. After practicing general dentistry for over a decade, he received prosthodontic specialty training at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine and subsequent maxillofacial prosthetic training at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and the Bronx VA, and he completed the NYU Implant Fellowship in 2009.

Currently Dr. Kurtz is a Clinical Professor and Director of the Division of Maxillofacial Prosthetics at the Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine and is the Director of Prosthodontic Research at Montefiore Medical Center where he has taught since 1998. He is a Clinical Professor at the Hofstra/Northwell School of Medicine and an Attending Maxillofacial Prosthodontist at the affiliated Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

Dr. Kurtz also maintains a private practice limited to prosthodontics and maxillofacial prosthetics in New Hyde Park, NY, named Academic Prosthodontics of Long Island. He is a published researcher and lectures nationally and internationally, and has a strong passion for furthering the specialty of prosthodontics through clinical care, education, and research.
