PR TIPS: SEVEN WAYS TO PROMOTE YOUR PRACTICE

1.

Share success stories with your local media. News organizations are interested in stories that involve pro bono work, difficult cases, and/or new innovations. If you have a case that you think would be good for a media profile, ask the patient for their consent, and then contact your local media. It is helpful to take photos throughout the process, including of the patient’s mouth and full face. For more detailed steps, view the Public Relations page.

2.

Practice explaining prosthodontics in simple language. One option is: “As a prosthodontist, I am a dental specialist with advanced training in the restoration of missing or damaged teeth. I focus on…” and name a few of the procedures you perform most often, such as dentures or dental implants.

3.

Submit a Letter to the Editor to your local newspaper about a timely or urgent health topic. There are downloadable Letter to the Editor templates available in the NPAW Toolkit and on the Public Relations page.

4.

Make sure you are properly utilizing social media for your practice. View the ACP’s Social Media Toolkit for tips, best practices, and other resources to help you craft engaging content.

5.

Connect with your community by hosting an open house, giving a presentation, or offering a complimentary consultation. For more activity ideas, view the NPAW Toolkit.

6.

Update your professional picture, consider wearing a lab coat that identifies you as a prosthodontist.

7.

Make sure your website is up-to-date with accurate information and business hours.
