2021 Private Practice Prosthodontist Award International Region: Dr. Brian Kucey
The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) honored Dr. Brian Kucey with the 2021 Private Practice Prosthodontist Award for the International Region of the ACP. This award recognizes private practice prosthodontists who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the specialty of prosthodontics, through prosthodontic practice, enhancing the public’s understanding of the role of a private practice prosthodontist in comprehensive oral health care as well as exemplifying collegiality and cross discipline outreach, or exemplary community service.
“It is a great honor to be nominated for this prestigious award of the American College of Prosthodontists. I have been an ACP member from the first day of my prosthodontic program in 1983 on the suggestion of my mentor and Director Dr. Jack Preston. It was a very special experience to be admitted as a Fellow of the American College in 1987 at my earliest opportunity to do.” Dr. Kucey said, “I view the ACP as the most important prosthodontic organization for me to belong to. I have embraced opportunities to participate in committee work over the years and am still very active in prosthodontic organizations. This award caps over 35 years of full-time private practice as a prosthodontist, 40 years as a dental graduate, and 30 years as a study club mentor. But I have more to give and do and look forward to the next period in my professional life.”
Dr. Kucey completed his BSc and DDS at the University of Alberta and his Certificate in Prosthodontics, MSEd degree, and Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Southern California. He is a Fellow of the ACP, Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, and is an active member who has served in numerous leadership positions in several other dental organizations. He founded the Alberta Implant Seminar (AIS) in 1991.
Dr. Kucey practices full time in Canada at South Edmonton Prosthodontics with Drs. Elena Hernandez-Kucey and Catherine Kucey of Kucey Dental Group.
