California ACP Section Reconnects at Inaugural Meeting

After several years of inactivity, the California Section of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) officially reactivated with its inaugural meeting at the USC School of Dentistry. The hybrid event drew approximately 85 attendees, participating both in person and via live webinar from across California.

The featured speaker was Dr. Kenneth Kurtz, who presented “Implant Complications,” an interactive program examining complications associated with implant-supported fixed and removable prostheses. Drawing on his extensive experience teaching in graduate prosthodontic programs, Dr. Kurtz engaged attendees in a discussion of approaches to managing—and, whenever possible, avoiding—undesirable implant complications.

The meeting marked an exciting new chapter for the California Section. Given the geographic size of California, the hybrid format provided an important opportunity to bring together prosthodontists, residents, students, educators, and colleagues from across the state. The strong turnout, enthusiasm, and camaraderie at this first gathering reflected the Section’s goal of rebuilding a statewide community centered on education, professional connection, and fellowship.

Building on the momentum of this inaugural meeting, the California Section looks forward to welcoming even more members and colleagues at future events and continuing to create opportunities for learning, collaboration, and camaraderie throughout the state.

The California Section is also planning a social gathering for Thursday, November 12, during the ACP Annual Session in Chicago. This will provide another opportunity for California Section members to reconnect and spend time together in person. California Section members should look out for additional details as plans are finalized.
