The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) honored Dr. John J. Petrini with the Private Practice Prosthodontist Award for the Pacific Region of the ACP at the 2022 Annual Awards & President’s Dinner held at the 52nd Annual Session of the ACP on Nov. 4 in Austin, TX. This award recognizes private practice prosthodontists who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the specialty of prosthodontics, through prosthodontic practice, enhancing the public’s understanding of the role of a private practice prosthodontist in comprehensive oral health care as well as exemplifying collegiality and cross discipline outreach, or exemplary community service.

“It is a huge honor to be selected for this award. There are so many other great professionals in my region that are doing great things, and I feel like I am just trying to do my part.” Dr. Petrini said, “I love our specialty, and it is worth fighting for. Educating the public, and our other healthcare colleagues is crucial if we want to stay relevant. We have something unique to offer the public that no one else can, and it is nice to be recognized for those small efforts in defending our specialty.”

Dr. John J. Petrini attended University of Pacific San Francisco for his dental degree and completed prosthodontic residency in 2009 at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, MD. He achieved Diplomate status the following year in 2010. He practices in Seattle and focuses his professional skills on helping others with complex dental needs. He has lectured in the community extensively on dental implants, and removable prosthodontics. He has been active in creating awareness at the state level of the public benefits of dental specialists like prosthodontists and the vital role they play in the health care chain.
