2025 Dan Gordon Lifetime Achievement Award
The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) honored Dr. John Agar with the 2025 Dan Gordon Lifetime Achievement Award at the Annual Awards & President's Dinner held at the 55th Annual Session of the ACP, on Oct. 24 in New Orleans. This award recognizes lifetime achievement.
Dr. John Agar has been a member of the American College of Prosthodontists from the beginning of his prosthodontic career. He has been actively supporting the College throughout his career. He received prosthodontic specialty training in the Army and an MA in higher education and human development from George Washington University. Colonel Agar served in the US Army from 1970-1996. His military duties included being Director of Education for an AEGD and a prosthodontic residency, the Army consultant in fixed prosthodontics, and Commander of the Southeast Dental Commands that included the specialty training programs at Fort Gordon, GA. He is currently a professor and has been faculty at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine since he retired from the Army. Dr. Agar was Director of the University of Connecticut prosthodontic residency program from 1996-2014 and since 2014 has served as the Assistant Director and as dental student faculty. Dr. Agar has served as President of the American College of Prosthodontists, and has severd in leadership roles in several other esteemed dental organizations. He was President and examiner for the American Board of Prosthodontics and the Prosthodontic Commissioner for the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
