Membership Categories

Member/Fellow

Educationally qualified prosthodontists will be considered for the category of Member. Board-certified prosthodontists (Diplomates of the American Board of Prosthodontics) will be considered for the category of Fellow.

Resident

Residents enrolled in an advanced prosthodontic training program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) will be considered for the category of Resident Member. ACP members who return to school as full-time students in an accredited institution and who elect to apply for this category of membership will also be considered. An individual may retain resident member status until termination of his or her formal training in prosthodontics or for a length of time not to exceed six years.

Dental Technician Alliance

Certified dental technicians with proof of formal training in dental technology and one current ACP member-sponsor will be considered for the category of Dental Technician Alliance. Dental technicians without proof of formal training may apply for Alliance status with two current ACP member-sponsors.

Academic Alliance

Academic Alliance affiliation shall be limited to those individuals who have NOT completed an advanced dental education program in prosthodontics accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Individuals holding an academic teaching appointment within a CODA accredited prosthodontic program or an undergraduate teaching position in the discipline of prosthodontics who are educationally qualified, will be considered for the Academic Alliance. These individuals must spend a minimum of 50 percent of the time teaching as defined by the institution. 

Global Alliance

Individuals who have completed an advanced dental education program in prosthodontics that is not CODA accredited will be considered for this category. Alliance affiliates must currently reside outside of the U.S.

Predoctoral Alliance

Predoctoral students who are enrolled in a CODA accredited dental program who are interested in the field of prosthodontics will be considered for the category of Predoctoral Alliance. Predoctoral students must also be a current member of the American Student Dental Association (ASDA). Predoctoral Student Alliance dues are supported by the American College of Prosthodontists.

Advanced Program and Graduate Student Alliance

Individuals who currently hold a DDS or DMD and are enrolled in a CODA accredited training program and interested in the field of prosthodontics will be considered for this category. Advanced Program and Graduate Student Alliance dues are supported by the American College of Prosthodontists.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP

If you have either attained the age of seventy (70) or are retired from active compensated participation in dentistry, you can contact the ACP Central Office to inquire about Life Membership options. Additional eligibility requirements apply.
