Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a position in Prosthodontics at Schulich Dentistry effective January 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointment type will be Probationary (Tenure-Track) at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates must possess both DDS/DMD and PhD degrees (or equivalent). They will have successfully completed a full-time, post-graduate program of at least 24 months duration in Prosthodontics and at least two years of post-doctoral research training. Candidates must be eligible for full or academic registration (licensure) within the Province of Ontario. Candidates are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the requirements for registration in Ontario (http://rcdso.org).
Successful candidates should have a demonstrated aptitude for teaching and will be required to teach at the didactic, pre-clinical and clinical levels of the undergraduate and international dentists programs. The successful candidate must be able to teach and practice in the areas of removable prosthodontics, fixed prosthodontics and implant dentistry. The successful candidate must be able to adapt to the current didactic and clinical curriculum of the program. Faculty are expected to become course directors and effectively administer assigned courses. Cross-disciplinary teaching is expected.
Applicants must have a demonstrable success in research with publications in high quality journals related to the applicant’s field of research. Expertise in oral biochemistry, saliva, and proteomics is required. The ability to lead and support collaborative research is a requirement. Successful candidates will have a commitment to supervise and support undergraduate and graduate research trainees. Probationary candidates will be expected to maintain an ongoing research program resulting in external funding and peer-reviewed publications.
Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate should have private practice experience in Prosthodontics and is expected to maintain a consulting practice in Prosthodontics. A consulting privilege of one day/week and the opportunity for intramural practice exists. The successful candidate will be required to participate in the administration of the dental program attending and contributing to the Committees to which s/he has been appointed. Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language and must be able to work in a collaborative style in all three areas of teaching, research and administration.
