The UBC Faculty of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time or part-time faculty position in the discipline of General Dentistry with an emphasis on digital dentistry. The appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer.

The applicant must hold a DMD/DDS degree and preferably have experience in clinical undergraduate teaching in digital dentistry. Preference will be given to applicants with additional post-graduate academic training in prosthodontics, operative, or restorative dentistry.

The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with faculty members within the Division of General Dentistry to participate in the undergraduate and graduate teaching in the areas of digital dentistry including intraoral scanning, CAD/CAM restoration fabrication, and printing of casts and dental prostheses. The candidate will help to establish a strong evidence-based pre-clinical and clinical curriculum in digital dentistry to support didactic and clinical skills needed for general dental practice.

Additional teaching responsibilities include the following:

  • Instruct in classrooms, simulation and seminars. That would include planning and presenting lectures, guiding students in simulation exercises, running seminar programing.
  • Supervise and facilitate clinical activities involving all aspects of digital dentistry for undergraduate and graduate students. This will also involve working with dental laboratory support internally and externally to the Faculty of Dentistry.
  • Oversee and evaluate student pre-clinical & clinical activities.
  • Develop pre-clinical and clinical online manuals and guidelines to assist in calibration among faculty members, instructors, graduate and undergraduate students.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the academic life and teach/supervise learners in the Faculty of Dentistry. She/he should be an innovative teacher who will integrate digital technologies and new approaches to learning into the curriculum. The successful individual should possess exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, be able to work effectively and contribute within team environment, and maintain positive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Preference will be given to an individual with current and active experience in instructing, lecturing, coaching and mentoring students and instructors in pre-clinical setting and those that operate from a solid understanding of patient care and evidence-based dentistry.

Applicants must be licensed (or eligible) with the British Columbia College of Oral Health professionals. Salary is subject to standards within the Faculty of Dentistry based on teaching and oversight.

Maxillofacial Prosthodontist - Craniofacial Center

The University of Illinois Hospital & Clinics (UI Health) is seeking a full-time Maxillofacial Prosthodontist. The Maxillofacial Prosthodontist will provide prosthetic rehabilitation (oral, facial, somato) for pediatric and adult patients with congenital or acquired deformities of the oral cavity, head and neck or limbs. The candidate will also provide dental evaluation and treatment for patients receiving radiation therapy or chemotherapy. In addition to providing treatment for patients requiring dental or craniofacial implants or other complex prosthodontic care and conducting educational programs and research relative to Maxillofacial Prosthetics.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide prosthetic rehabilitation for patients with deformities of the oral cavity, head and neck, limbs. Dental evaluation and treatment for patients with complex prosthodontic problems.
  • Fit prostheses to patients, making any necessary adjustments and modifications.
  • Design and fabricate dental or facial prostheses or supervise dental technologists and laboratory bench workers who construct the devices.
  • Restore function and aesthetics to traumatic injury victims, or to individuals with diseases or birth defects.
  • Oversee all financial operations of the Maxillofacial Prosthetics Clinic. Supervise all clinical staff.
  • Conduct scientific research on materials and treatment techniques. Prepare research grant proposals.
  • Prepare and conduct presentation to professional and lay organizations. Supervise activities of students, residents, fellows in the Maxillofacial Prosthetics Clinic.
  • As an integral member of The Craniofacial Center team, works in close cooperation with medical and dental specialists and allied health professionals at The Center to achieve functional, cosmetic, and psychosocial normalcy for each patient.

Requirements include:

  • Must have completed a residency in postgraduate prosthodontics and a fellowship in maxillofacial prosthetics in programs recognized by the American Dental Association.
  • Must be board certified by the American Board of Prosthodontics or have completed at least two of three phases of board requirements for certification and must be able to complete certification within the first year of employment.
  • Current and valid license to practice dentistry in the State of Illinois is required.

The College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University seeks a maxillofacial prosthodontist for a full-time, clinical track position as an assistant or associate professor, in the Division of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry, with a joint appointment at Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center-Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. The primary responsibilities of the position are performed in the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital’s Head and Neck Service at the Wexner Medical Center. The position’s duties include administrative and supervisory oversight of the professional and laboratory support staff; attending tumor board sessions; assisting in developing clinical protocols; and providing patients with the full scope of intraoral and extraoral maxillofacial prosthodontic care.

The College of Dentistry is one of Ohio State’s seven health science colleges. It is comprised of ten academic divisions, and it supports eight ADA-recognized dental specialty residencies, a General Practice Residency, and a PhD program in oral biology. The college is physically connected to the seven hospitals at the Wexner Medical Center, and it is the only state-supported dental school in Ohio. The college currently ranks 13th in the nation among U.S. dental schools for NIH funding.

The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital is one of 45 National Comprehensive Cancer Hospitals, and it is the third largest cancer hospital in the U. S. The Head and Neck Service spans a broad range of disciplines that include medical and radiation oncologists; head and neck surgeons; maxillofacial prosthodontists; voice and swallowing specialists; molecular and biological pathologists; genetic scientists and more — all specializing in a specific type of head and neck cancer research, prevention, detection, treatment, and care.

Applicants must have a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent, in addition to certificates of advanced education in prosthodontics and maxillofacial prosthetics from CODA-accredited programs and be eligible for licensure by the Ohio State Board of Dentistry (dental.ohio.gov/Licensure/Dentist). Preference will be given to applicants that are board-certified and have significant clinical and administrative experience. Other duties of the position include serving as a preceptor for prosthodontic residents who rotate through the Head and Neck Service, providing clinical instruction in the College of Dentistry prosthodontic residency clinic, and participating as an active faculty member in College’s governance. Opportunities to engage in biomaterials, and clinical and translational research are also available.

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a desire to create an environment that promotes collegiality, collaboration, inclusion, and cultural diversity among members of various educational, research, and service communities.
