Keynote: The Power of Purpose in Business and Life
Roy Spence
Austin, TX

Thursday, Nov. 3
8:00 – 9:00 a.m. CT

In today’s world of hyper-connectivity, people are feeling more disconnected from themselves and their core purpose—both in life, in their work and even in their country—than maybe ever before. This is where the power of purpose comes in. Seeking and discovering purpose in your life and your life’s work is a challenging and yet energizing and a powerful force to counter chaos and divisiveness.

At the conclusion of this session, attendees should be able to:

  • Define your personal or professional purpose – what you are working toward, beyond making a profit.
  • Find true meaning in your work.
  • Lead, motivate, and inspire others by rallying around a clear purpose.
Biography: Roy and his partners, right out of The University of Texas at Austin, built GSD&M from scratch into a purpose‐based marketing, advertising, and idea machine ‐ building iconic brands like Southwest Airlines, Don’t Mess with Texas, The PGA Tour, Walmart, The United States Air Force, Goodyear, American Institute of Architects and DreamWorks. Roy has always held a deep belief that purpose‐ inspired marketing can be a force for good. He and his partners are always the first to donate time and talent, creating powerful PSAs when disasters hit America like 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina as well as creating an historic moment by getting all the former US Presidents to create a 30 second PSA when Hurricane Harvey and Irma hit in 2017. He is now on a mission to use the power of purpose‐based marketing to bring America together on higher ground and begin putting the US back into USA.
