Thomas J. Balshi, D.D.S., Ph.D., F.A.C.P.

Thomas J. Balshi, American Board of Prosthodontics Diplomate, is founder of Prosthodontics Intermedica and Director of the Institute For Facial Esthetics. Graduate and post-graduate degrees were earned from Temple University School of Dentistry, and an Honorary Doctorate of Science degree received from Cabrini College. He is Charter Member and Fellow of the Academy of Osseointegration, and a Fellow of both the American and International Colleges of Prosthodontists

Guillermo Bernal, D.D.S., M.S.D., F.A.C.P.

Dr. Bernal Graduated from the Colombian School of Dentistry in 1986. He completed one year as a Research Scholar in the Department of Prosthodontics at Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1989. Following this he completed his Postgraduate Education in Prosthodontics and his Master Degree at Indiana University. He was Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Director of the Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics at Javeriana University in Bogota Colombia. He was Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Professor and Director of the Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics at Loma Linda University. Actually he is in private practice and professor at the Javeriana University in Bogotá Colombia and adjunct professor at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, USA.

He is Board certified of the American Board of Prosthodontics and fellow of The American College of Prosthodontists, member of The John F Johnston Society for Advanced Partial Prosthodontics, member of the Colombian Federation of Dentistry and member of the Board Directors of the Colombian Prosthodontic Society (Vice-president).

He has over 19 publications on peer review journals and is speaker of the subjects of prosthodontics and implant dentistry.

Avinash Bidra, B.D.S., M.Sc.D., F.A.C.P.

Dr. Bidra is a Board Certified Prosthodontist and a sub-specialist in Maxillofacial Prosthetics. He serves as Assistant Program Director of the Prosthodontics Residency Program at the University of Connecticut. He completed his dental and specialty training from India, Florida, Connecticut and Texas respectively. His research interests include facial and dental esthetics and clinical outcomes of prosthodontic treatment. He has lectured at national and international meetings, as well as published on these topics in international journals. He maintains a part time private practice in CT restricted to implant surgery and prosthodontics.

Marcus Blatz, D.M.D., PhD.

Dr. Markus Blatz is Professor of Restorative Dentistry and Chairman, Department of Preventive and Restorative Sciences as well as Founder of the CAD/CAM Ceramic Center at University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his DMD, Doctorate and Prosthodontics Certificate from Freiburg University, Germany.

George C. Bohle, D.D.S., F.A.C.P.

Dr. Bohle is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City, 6-year combined B.A./D.D.S. program (1997), and Prosthodontic residency (2000). He then completed a Maxillofacial Prosthetics Fellowship (2001) at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Upon completion of this training, he started a private practice in Baltimore, Maryland, while on staff at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute. In 2005, he returned to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and was named Director of the Maxillofacial Prosthetics training program in 2006 where he practiced until December 2011. Currently he practices full-time at the private practice of Implant and Prosthodontic Associates in Oklahoma City.

 


John B. Brunski,Ph.D.

 

John B. Brunski is Senior Research Engineer, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Surgery, School of Medicine, Stanford University, Stanford, CA. He is also Professor Emeritus, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY. Dr. Brunski’s research has focused on bioengineering aspects of dental implant design, bone-implant interactions, and biomechanics of bone healing.

Charles Goodacre, D.D.S., M.S.D.

Dr. Goodacre received his DDS degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 1971. He completed a three year combined program in Prosthodontics and Dental Materials at Indiana University School of Dentistry and in 1974 earned his MSD degree. In 2011 he received Honorary Fellowship in the Faculty of Dentistry of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and the Distinguished Service Award from the American College of Prosthodontists.

He is currently Dean of Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, Past-President of the American Board of Prosthodontics, Past –President of the American College of Prosthodontists, and Past-Presidents of the Academy of Prosthodontists.

 

Mauricio Hervas, D.D.S., M.S., F.A.C.P.

Dr. Mauricio Hervas was born in Quito-Ecuador and graduated from the “Universidad Central del Ecuador”. He completed an internship at Indiana University in the Prosthodontics Department and then earned both his certificate in Prosthodontics and Masters of Science degree from The Ohio State University. His intense interest in the field of Implantology lead him to complete a one year fellowship in the Implant Clinic at The Ohio State University. He is Diplomate of the American College of Prosthodontics, member of the Academy of Osseointegration and member of the American Dental Educator Association. Currently he is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Pre-doctoral Implant Program at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine where he teaches at the Pre-doctoral and Postdoctoral level. Dr. Hervas maintains an intramural Faculty Practice limited to Implant Prosthodontics. His interests are lecturing in implant esthetics and treatment planning for simple and complex cases.

Glen H. Johnson, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Johnson earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering and DDS from the University of Washington; and an MS in Dental Materials from the University of Michigan. He is Professor, Restorative Dentistry at the University of Washington. He has authored numerous scientific articles and is a frequent presenter nationally and internationally. His research focus is currently with dental cements.

Dr. Johnson is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of Operative Dentistry, International Association for Dental Research and the Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics. Dr. Johnson is a past member and Chair of the ADA Council on Dental Materials, Instruments, and Equipment and served as the Biomaterials Consultant for the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. He is presently a member of the Editorial Council of the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, a Consultant to the ADA Council on Scientific Affairs and serves on the Executive Council of the Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics

John Kois, D.M.D., M.S.D.

Received his D.M. D. from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine and Certificate in Periodontal Prosthodontics with a M.S.D. degree from the University of Washington, School of Dentistry. He maintains a private practice limited to Prosthodontics in Tacoma and Seattle and is an Affiliate Professor in the Graduate Restorative Program at the University of Washington. Dr. Kois continues to lecture nationally and internationally, is a reviewer for many journals and is the Editor in Chief for The Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry. Dr. Kois is the recipient of the 2002 Saul Schluger Memorial Award for Clinical Excellence in Diagnosis and Treatment Planning, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from both the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is the past President of both the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, and a member of numerous other professional organizations. In addition, he continues to work with restorative dentists at the Kois Center, a didactic and clinical teaching program.

Hamilton Le, D.M.D., F.A.C.P.

Dr. Hamilton H. Le, received his D.M.D. degree from Tufts university of Dental Medicine in 2005 as well as his prosthodontic residency in 2008. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. He currently serves as the Vice President of the California Section of the American College of Prosthodontists.

Ricardo Mitrani, D.D.S., M.S.D.

Dr Mitrani received his DDS degree from the UNITEC University of México City; and certificate in Prosthodontics as well as a Master of Science in Dentistry from the University of Washington, where he served as the Graduate Prosthodontics program’s assistant director during the year of 2001.

He currently holds academic affiliations at the University of Washington, University of Valencia (Spain) and UNAM (National University of Mexico). He is a member of several organizations including: American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, American College of Prosthodontics, American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, and the International College of Dentist. He also serves as a member on the editorial board of Practical Procedures and Aesthetic Dentistry (PPAD) in the Implantology section, Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry (JERD), Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry (COMPEND) and Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA).

Dr Mitrani has authored numerous scientific publications and chapters in text books in the fields of Implant Prosthodontics and Aesthetic dentistry, he has given over 320 lecture in over 20 countries in America, Europe and Asia, maintaining a private practice limited to Prosthodontics & Implants in Mexico City.

Michael Moscovitch, D.D.S.

Steve Parel, D.D.S.

Parel received his dental degree from The Medical College of Virginia in 1969. He spent one year as a general practice resident with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Richmond, which was followed by a two-year residency in Prosthodontics at the Wadsworth Veterans Administration Hospital in Los Angeles. He received his maxillofacial prosthetics training in Houston at the M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute in 1973. He became a faculty member in the University of Texas System in 1975, rising to the rank of full professor in the San Antonio Medical and Dental Schools in 1978. He served as head of the Maxillofacial Prosthetics Division in the Department of Prosthodontics until 1991, which was followed by 7 years of private practice in prosthetic and implant dentistry.

Dr. Parel is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, the American and International College of Dentists, and is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Academy of Prosthodontics, and the American College of Prosthodontics. He has been course director for Osseointegration training at the University Of Texas Health Science Center School Of Dentistry in San Antonio, one of the four original Brånemark training centers in the United States. His literature contributions include over 65 scientific articles as principal author, and multiple textbook contributions. He was editor and co-author of Esthetics and Osseointegration, a landmark reference source for implant dentistry. He authored his second book, The SmiLine System in 1991, and recently completed a third book, Esthetic Implant Restorations.

He was co-founder of Osseointegration Seminars, Incorporated, and has been president of the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, the Academy of Osseointegration, and The Osseointegration Foundation. He recently received the Andrew J. Ackerman Award for meritorious lifetime service in the field of Maxillofacial Prosthetics and the Distinguished Lecturer and Dan Gordon Awards from the American College of Prosthodontics. He has served an Examiner and past president of the American Board of Prosthodontics. Dr. Parel has served as a professor at Baylor College of Dentistry—Texas A&M University System Health Science Center and director of the Center of Oral Maxillofacial Prosthodontics in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/Pharmacology since 1998.

He presently is the director of Prosthodontics in a private practice Dental Implant Center in Dallas, Texas.

Mariano A. Polack, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Mariano A. Polack received his dental degree from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1995, and his specialty training in Prosthodontics and Master of Science degree from the University of Minnesota in 2000.  Since then, Dr. Polack has been in private practice limited to prosthodontics in northern VA.  Between 2002 and 2004, he was a guest researcher at the Ceramics Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, where he was involved in several porcelain research projects.  Dr. Polack has published more than 40 abstracts and papers on prosthodontics and dental materials in various scientific journals, and lectures both nationally and internationally.  He is a member of the American College of Prosthodontics, Academy of Osseointegration and American Dental Association. 

Hari Prasad, B.S., M.S., F.I.C.O.I., M.I.P.S.

Prof. Hari Prasad is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Georgia Medical Center, Senior Research Scientist and Assistant Director of the Hard Tissue Research Laboratory at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He graduated from King George’s Medical College. He completed his studies in basic bone histology research at the University of Oklahoma under the direction of Prof. Rohrer. He has published over 55 research articles and has been acknowledged in many scientific papers for his contributions. He lectures extensively on bone, bone graft materials, Implants and growth factors in conferences both domestically and internationally. He received his Fellowship and Mastership of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists in 2000.

Benedict Rich, D.D.S.

Dr. Ben Rich graduated from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in 1984 and completed his prosthodontic training at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx NY in 1987. He is a clinical Associate Professor in the Post-Graduate Prosthodontic Program at the NYU College of Dentistry. Dr. Rich maintains a private practice in Norwalk, CT.

Richard D. Roblee, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Roblee practiced general restorative dentistry in Dallas, Texas before going back to study graduates orthodontics at Baylor College of Dentistry. He is a renowned for his work in esthetic dentistry, orthodontics techniques and interdisciplinary therapy. He has given more than 250 professional presentations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and Japan. Dr. Roblee is the author of numerous publications and videos, including a textbook entitled Interdisciplinary Dentofacial Therapy: A Comprehensive Approach to Optimal Patient Care (Quintessence Publishing Co., Inc.)

He is an adjunct associate professor at Baylor College of Dentistry in both the restorative and orthodontic departments, and is an active member in numerous prestigious dental organizations, including the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, The American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. Dr. Roblee is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and maintains a full-time practice in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with an emphasis on esthetic and interdisciplinary therapy.

Georgios Romanos, D.D.S., Ph.D.

Professor and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at SUNY Stony Brook; and tenure Professor of Oral Surgery/implant Dentistry (Univ. of Frankfurt, Germany).

Complete specialty programs in Periodontology, Prosthodontics and Oral Surgery in Germany and NY. PhD: Connective Tissue Research; Post PhD: Immediate loading of oral implants; Author: approx. 200 papers/4 books Editorial Board member in peer-reviewed journals.

Marianella Sierraalta, D.D.S., M.S.

Marianella Sierraalta received her D.D.S. degree from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas, Venezuela her Master of Science degree from the University of Michigan and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. She is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Biological and Material Sciences, Division of Prosthodontics at The University of Michigan and teaches at the Undergraduate and Graduate levels. Dr. Sierraalta's major research interest and publications focuses on the use of all-ceramic restorations and guided surgery with dental implants.

Clark Stanford, D.D.S., Ph.D.

Associate Dean for Research and Centennial Fund Professor at College of Dentistry, University of Iowa. He holds secondary appointments in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Department of Biomedical Engineering. He received his BS, DDS, Certificate (Prosthodontics) and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. He is the author 14 book chapters, 94 papers and > 170 published research abstracts. He has 15 academic awards including 2007 State of Iowa Regents Award for Faculty Excellence and the IADR Distinguished Scientist Award (2007).

Fernando Vizcaya-Rojas, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Rojas-Vizcaya is Adjunct Assistant Professor in Department of Prosthodontics at UNC and Director of Mediterranean Prosthodontic Institute in Spain.

Dr. Roja-Vizcaya received his DDS from University Javeriana-Colombia, his Oral Surgery Specialist Degree from University Complutense-Spain and his Certificate and MS in Prosthodontics, and Implant-Fellowship from University of North Carolina

William Wilson Jr. D.D.S., M.S., F.A.C.P.

Dr. Wilson is a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy Dental Corps and is currently serving as the Department Chairman and Program Director for the Maxillofacial Prosthetics Fellowship at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, MD. He is also serving as a consultant to the Navy Surgeon General as the Navy Specialty Leader for Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Dental Implants.

He received his D.D.S. degree from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry in Morgantown, WV. He received his M.S. in oral biology from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C. and completed his prosthodontic residency training as well as a fellowship in maxillofacial prosthetics at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School.

Dr. Wilson is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, and a fellow in both the American College of Prosthodontics and the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics.

Peter Wohrle, D.M.D.

Dr. Peter Wöhrle received his DMD cum laude and Master of Medical Sciences in Oral Biology from Harvard University. Additionally, he completed two advanced education programs, in Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry, and a four-year certified dental technician program in Switzerland.

He is renowned as one of a few dentists worldwide with formal training in the interrelated fields of implant surgery, prosthodontics, and laboratory technology.

Johan Wolfaardt, B.D.S., M.Dent., Ph.D.

Dr Wolfaardt is Director of Clinics and International Relations, the Institute for Reconstructive Sciences in Medicine (iRSM) and a Full Professor, Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Alberta, Canada. His clinical and research interests are in the area of maxillofacial prosthetics with particular emphasis in the area of head and neck reconstruction, osseointegration and treatment outcomes. Dr Wolfaardt has led the development of the research program at iRSM.

His research interests involve treatment outcomes, digital technologies in head and neck reconstruction and biomechanics of osseointegrated implants. Dr Wolfaardt has a special interest in quality management and he led the quality initiative that enabled iRSM to register an ISO9000 quality system for the clinical and research aspects of osseointegration care.

Dr Wolfaardt has published over 90 papers in refereed journals and contributed to a variety of texts. He has lectured both nationally and internationally on maxillofacial prosthetics, osseointegration in head and neck reconstruction, challenges of introduction of advanced digital technology, knowledge work, team work and quality management. Dr Wolfaardt has served on Boards of the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, the International Society for Maxillofacial Rehabilitation, Advanced Digital Technology (on Head and Neck Reconstruction) Foundation (ADT Foundation) and the International College of Prosthodontists.

Dr Wolfaardt was also made an Honorary Member of the Chilean Academy of Osseointegration. Dr Wolfaardt is presently President of the ADT Foundation. Dr Wolfaardt was awarded Honorary Membership by the Canadian Dental Association in 2011.

Jean C. Wu, D.D.S.

Dr. Jean Wu is a full time Prosthodontists in Newport Beach, California focused on esthetic reconstructive dentistry utilizing the operating microscope. She earned her Master’s in Prosthodontics from the University of Melbourne, Australia and a Certificate in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Wu was on faculty at the University of Melbourne, Australia and the University of Tennessee, Memphis and also a past president of the Australian Prosthodontic Society. She is currently on faculty with the Newport Coast Oral Facial Institute, a non-profit international teaching and research center.

Roy Yanase, D.D.S., F.A.C.P.

Dr. Roy T. Yanase, received his D.D.S. degree from Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC in 1969 and Prosthodontic Residency in 1977. He is a Diplomate and past-president of the American Board of Prosthodontics. He is a fellow of the Academy of Prosthodontics, American and International College of Prosthodontists, and the Academy of Osseointegration. He founded the Osseointegration Study Club of Southern California.
