Prosthodontic Careers and Wages

A career choice is a commitment. When selecting a career, it is best to choose one that matches your personality and interests. If you are meticulous, detailed-oriented and like to be challenged, then prosthodontics is a good career choice for you.

Prosthodontists earn the sixth highest salary among all U.S. careers, according to the Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics' latest report, Employment and Wages, Annual Averages 2004.

The prosthodontics specialty offers a rewarding and attractive career with unlimited opportunities. Of the more than 170,000 dentists in the United States, about 3,200 are prosthodontists.

There are several paths that can be explored in prosthodontics each offering its own unique benefits. Career opportunities that involve a combination of teaching, patient care, research and administration can quickly elevate you into positions of national prominence and respect. There is some opportunity for travel, personal development and national/international compensated lecturing.
